Ant-Man Is Hitting Theaters in 2015 and More Marvel News

Yes, comic book fans, it’s finally happening! Marvel is bringing Ant-Man to the big screen on November 6, 2015! It’s a property that’s been talked about forever. In fact, I interviewed director Edgar Wright about it over four years ago and heard how excited about the property he was. Last year at Comic-Con, Wright unveiled a bit of test footage and it got a great reaction. Today (Oct. 15) Marvel announced that it’s on the calendar for a release in 2015.

In addition, Iron Man 3 will open on May 3, 2013. It’s also getting a third dimension, making it the first Tony Stark film in 3D. I’m not always a fan, I have to say, but Marvel has tended to do it right, so yes, I’ll be putting on the uncomfortable glasses like the rest of you.

Back in 2008, Marvel head Kevin Feige told me, “Edgar has been passionate about Ant-Man for years. I think it was probably three or four years ago that I first met Edgar down at Comic Con. He wanted to meet to talk about a character, and I was like, Ok, Spider-Man? What’s it going to be? And he had pictures of Ant-Man, which I was surprised about until I heard his pitch, and then it made perfect sense. And we brought him on right away. He has delivered an excellent, excellent draft with his writing partner Joe Cornish. They’re at the tail end of doing a revised draft as well. And then, of course, Edgar is going to go off and do Scott Pilgrim. So we hope at some point after that, to bring Ant-Man to the screen.”

In addition, I chatted with Nathan Fillion when he was a guest on my show with Stan Lee, “Cocktails With Stan,” and we talked a bit about fans wanting him to play the lead role of Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man. Check out what he has to say below.
