The first poster for Star Trek Into Darkness has been released and it’s dark and daunting. It shows some serious destruction, with Benedict Cumberbatch as the as-yet-unnamed villain, staring at a futuristic city.

Does this look kind of Dark Knight to anyone? Also, there are no space ships in sight. I can’t wait to see what they do with this film. And, of course, I’m dying to know more about Cumberbatch’s character beyond the fact that he’s “an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization.” Anyone have any guesses besides Khan? Star Trek Into Darkness will hit theaters on May 17, 2013.
