Game of Thrones to Get a “Super-Sized” Season 3

Game of Thrones fans have an even bigger reason to look forward to the Season 3 premiere on March 31, 2013. According to EW, it’s going to have a lot more content than we originally thought. It’s going to be “super-sized.”

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss spoke to the site, saying that while there will still be 10 episodes in Season 3 (which will tackle the first half of the third book in George R.R. Martin’s series “A Sword of Ice and Fire”), each one will be longer, adding almost another whole episode in terms of time. “There’s almost another full episode’s worth of extra minutes spread across the season,” Weiss says. “One of the great liberties with HBO is we’re not forced to come in at a specific time. We can’t be under 50 minutes or over 60, but that gives us a lot of flexibility.” He continued, “A super-sized season, as befitting Storm of Swords,” Benioff adds. “Last year we had a lot of 52-minute episodes. This year is a lot of 56, 57.”

Heck, I’ll take an extra 30 seconds! This is wonderful news. Are you guys excited? Let us know below, and as always, no book spoilers in the comments section.
